Create a new maven project

Environment:

Operating System: 64 bit Windows 8

Step 1: Create a new maven project

  1. Open the pre-existing workspace in Eclipse IDE.
  2. Select File > New > Maven Project

  3. In New Maven Project window, perform the following:
    • Select Create a simple project checkbox > then click Next

    • Type com.examplesite.test in Group Id field.
    • Type ExampleSiteAutomation in Artifact Id field. ‘ArtifactId‘ is your project name.
    • Type Automation in Name field.
    • Type This is my first automation project in Description field.
    • Click Finish. This will create a new maven project.

Step 2: Review the folder structure of the Maven project

  1. Open the Expand folder if not opened already.
  2. The project folder structure should look like the following:

Step 3: Review POM.xml

  1. Double click on the pom.xml file from the root directory of your project:
  2. Click the pom.xml tab to open the file.
  3. By default the POM is generated like this:
