Download browser drivers to your Maven project

Environment:

Operating System: 64 bit Windows 8

Step 1: Download chromedriver.exe to your Maven project

To run your tests in Chrome, WebDriver needs a separate executable to control Chrome. Follow the below steps to download the chrome executable (chromedriver.exe) file:

  1. Download the chrome driver from Selenium HQ’s website.
  2. Right click on the downloaded zipped folder file > select Extract All

  3. Select a destination where you want to extract the archive to and then click Extract.. For the destination , let’s choose your_ maven_ project_ directory\src\main\resources.

Step 2: Download geckodriver.exe to your Maven project

To run your tests in Firefox, WebDriver needs a separate executable to control Firefox. Follow the below steps to download the Firefox executable (geckodriver.exe) file:

  1. Download the gecko driver from Github’s website.

  2. Right click on the downloaded zipped folder file > select Extract All
  3. Select a destination where you want to extract the archive to and then click Extract.. For the destination , let’s choose your_ maven_ project_ directory\src\main\resources.

Step 3: Download IEDriverServer.exe to your Maven project

To run your tests in Internet Explorer(IE), WebDriver needs a separate executable to control IE. Follow the below steps to download the IE executable (IEDriverServer.exe) file:

  1. Download the IE driver from Github’s website.

  2. Right click on the downloaded zipped folder file > select Extract All
  3. Select a destination where you want to extract the archive to and then click Extract.. For the destination , let’s choose your_ maven_ project_ directory\src\main\resources.

Step 4: View the browser drivers using Eclipse

To view the downloaded browser drivers using Eclipse:

  1. Open your Maven project in Eclipse if not opened already.
  2. Expand the folder src/main/resources

Step 5: View the browser drivers File System

To view the downloaded browser drivers using File System:

  1. Navigate to this directory: your_ maven_ project_ directory\src\main\resources
  2. Below are the list of browser drivers we downloaded:
